I can't give a good review of the food itself since I just had a couple of takeout items (tho the corn fritters were good). personally I prefer the outside ambience of the nearby Lake Harris Hideaway or Hurricane in Leesburg; shaded, comfortable. but for a lakeside experience you probably will be happy.

J.B. Boondocks is fantastic! Food is excellent, staff is very attentive and the dessert is crazy! Just finished a maple-almond cheesecake and it was out-of-this-world! Thank you for exceeding our expectations. B

Came with a riding group. Stopped for lunch. View is great. Service was great. Had the clams (one of the day's specials), they were good. Nice sauce, my bf thought it was a little overpowering, but I liked it. Tuna melt was actually pretty good too. Had another special: the combo basket. Had fried fish, shrimp and plantain chips. Was very good. Took some photos of the other's meals. They said the burgers were delicious, the salads were good and everything looked like it had been bought from a farm down the road. Everything was very fresh looking and tasting. The sandwiches and salads were reasonably priced. The entrees looked overpriced but if they're really good, then they wouldn't be. But we didn't have any of those items.

Lots of homemade stuff on the menu. The homemade french fries were very good and Chris. The battered french fries were delicious and definitely two thumbs up on that. Sweet potato fries were delicious and super crispy. Fried shrimp was very good fish sandwich was delicious and I had the sliced prime rib sandwich with peppers and onions delicious. I'm told on Wednesday night they have a Southern comfort food night starring the meatloaf dinner. I'll be back Wednesday.

Had a great meal;) Our server was Victor, he was very personable timely. Tonight's special was chicken pot pie and it was tasty. We also had the boondocks burger and homemade chips, it was excellent! We had a pup on the patio which was also a bonus, great dining experience :)

Met for lunch here with a group of about 15. Took a while for wait staff to serve us water or take a drink order. Had to order my drink when when I ordered my meal. Over all it was good. Great space that I imagine is fun in the summer.

I've stopped by twice while cruising the roads via motorcycle (great area, BTW). The location is spacious, and the lakeside view is fantastic. The staff is friendly and prompt, but the food is just so-so. I really don't plan on coming back. If you're in the area, the wonderful Yahala Bakery is just a mile or so down the road, and offers much better food.

Loved it! Not sure if this is a hidden treasure or if lots of people come later in the day, we were there early. Staff was friendly, food came quickly. Fries were terrific. I had a muffelita and my friend had a smothered chicken sandwich and we split them both. They were both delicious. Had a caramel brownie for dessert and it was worth the extra calories. Very enjoyable and can't beat the view.

Laid back is no exaggeration when describing this place, located on the banks of Lake Harris it offers a gorgeous view in a park like setting. I stopped in for lunch while driving through the area on business after getting a recommendation from an associate. Looking around it was obvious the recommendation might have been made because of the limited amount of restaurants in the area. Once I arrived I could see how some could be attracted to this place although I kept my expectations in check being the looks of this place isn't so different than a lot of places in rural Florida. It definitely has that "Old Florida" charm. I was immediately greeted and seated at a table along the window side of the restaurant which really shows off the view of the lake you might say the best seat in the house but looking around there aren't really any bad seats anywhere even the bar shares the same view as the restaurant side since the layout is very open. I alway try and review the total experience although some base their reviews solely on the food as important as that is I understand few restaurants offer 5 star menus or can deliver that level in these types of settings. The service and atmosphere was exceptional for a quick lunch or I'm guessing a happy hour stop for the locals. I opted for the pork sandwich an offering you don't see often in Florida, I've experience this menu item many times in the Mid-west but it's always been referred to as a "pork tenderloin" no matter what you call it I liked it, add a thin spread of spicy mustard a fresh slice of tomato and fresh leaf lettuce and it's pretty tasty in my opinion. The pork was almost twice the size of the roll which made this carnivore pretty happy served with a small portion of fries and some unsweetened iced tea I had no complaints. I would definitely stop in again.

We have a Meetup group that bring allot of business over the passed years. They charged use for each slice for cake for a cake we provided. We will not use JB Bonndocker's for any Meetups again and we are notifying our 1200 member too boycott JB Bonndocker's.

Gorgeous lake views, building is right on the water. The staff members were very polite and courteous. Our server was on top of drink refills before I'd even gotten to half a glass. Service was prompt and our food was exactly as ordered and quite filling.

What a great place - in the middle of nowhere, right on lake harris and as Old Florida as you can get. Sit outside and watch some amazing, home crafted boats sporting V8 Chevy engines go whizzing by! The burgers are delicious and cooked to your temperature. Fish is great too. They stock craft beers (I had a bottle of Fat Tire). Really you have to visit because places like this are rapidly fading away and being replaced by Applebys. It has real southern feel and charm...with food worth the trip.

Nestled among the Cedar trees, near Howie in the Hills, sits this old-Florida restaurant. Most of the outside deck area is facing Little Lake Harris from which seems to always have a nice breeze and it's in the shade! I went based on a friend's request to try their Calamari dish...and I'm always looking for that illusory perfect Calamari. Well, in short, I found it! We were served an absolutely massive dinner platter full of tender, perfectly breaded calamari (tentacles and all) with a wonderful dish of home-made dipping sauce ($10.99). I also ordered the Cajun fish and FF ($10.99) and was treated to a nicely seasoned and light, breaded fish and TWICE fried FF's, done perfectly...only the coleslaw failed my palate. We looked out over the lake while we savored the morsels and were treated to a mini-race of "JS" class speedboats...Boondocks satisfy's in many ways only Florida can ;o)

Good place for apps and burgers. The entrees need a lot of help. We had the calamari on yelp recommendation and was not the best ever but was good. The location and view of the lake is awesome. Drinks are cold and servers are very friendly and took great care of us. We will return but as a good place for burgers.

I really don't have a rating for this restaurants food, but as for their personnel I was unimpressed to say the least. My daughter, wife and I tried to go their for lunch today and was met wit smug attitudes that ultimately lead to us leaving without ordering. I don't understand what the problem is with servers in the Clermont/Lake County area. It seems like they have no clue that they make money from tips. Well with all of the chain restaurants moving in with their corporate structures that make it mandatory for servers to actually serve their customers, local restaraunt owners better get a clue fast. I cannot stand to go to chain restaraunts and definitely prefer local fare, from local companies, but am tired of lack luster service. Hopefully this helps others, and by the way the 2 servers working happened to both be men.
